Heirs to Perdition

So, there is a channel on YouTube that I enjoy watching called "Satanic Views." If you have half a brain then you'll realise after watching that they're not actually satanic. All they seek to do is propose alternate viewpoints to things, or just point out stuff they find ridiculous. I'd recommned checking them out more than reading about it, as most of the episodes are pretty funny and bring up some interesting points and ideas. For those of you who may be interested, I'll be embedding episode 22 for you to watch. As you view it, consider their review of the movie Jesus Camp and what the people in the movie are trying to accomplish. Personally, I find the existence of such a documentary to be an invaluable resource for anyone who wants a look into the lives of relatively unknown enemies of the USA (or, at least, people who aren't perceived as enemies, but could be if you consider what they say and how serious they are).

  1. That show seemed like it was pretty interesting overall, I'll have to check out the earlier episodes. The Jesus Camp documentary is pretty freaky. My parents are of a similarly strict Christian sect, complete with the religious camp and narrow mindset. Being raised like that, you just assume that everyone else thinks the way your parents do and that that's the way people should be. That's probably one thing these people are doing 'right'; keeping their kids as sheltered as possible, because otherwise they'd see how twisted that seems. In return, the kids get a sense of self-depreciation and are told as long as they live this way, they can be worthwhile and make a difference and save the world. Who didn't want to be a super hero as a kid? But faith driven organizations like that are pretty volatile, especially considering how they're aiming to take over the country and change it to suit their ideals. The only difference between this group and foreign enemies is citizenship.

  2. Marry me. Hahaha, you hit my views almost exactly. The one difference is I feel more spite towards religeous zealots.

  3. XD I guess I don't feel spite towards them because they're not more foolish than any other group of fanatic people. They're actually so full of this shit that they think they're actually saving themselves and their kids, so if you look at it like that they're just trying to be good parents. But being how I am around my parents and them being who they are, we have quite a few words whenever it comes to how I'm supposed to be living my life and how they think I'm straying from the right path but 'I'll see the light'. I think it's bull that religious people seem to get off on telling other people that they know the right way to live. Just sounds to me like they're full of themselves. People should be allowed to live the way that's right for them personally and no one has the right to tell you they've got a better way for you to live. I can promise you that if we actually got one of those people up to presidency we'd have a dictatorship of some kind on our hands.

  4. It's OK, Michaela. I'd kill any public leader who was that fanatical.
